Guys, I'm the lone guitarist in a band bereft of bass player and like it that way. please don't suggest i get a bass player. I use a boss octaver to produce the bass notes i need, and get a lovely sound out of my amp at low levels, but the cones can't take the bass octave when i crank her up to 11. i have a bass bin in my possession, but no head for it and was wondering if anybody knew the best way of rigging it up to my peavey guitar head to make it sing like a bass amp. i want to use them simultaneously on stage but no nothing about the tech side of amps. any help would be greatly appreciated _________________ How to carve a marble elephant - Take a piece of marble and remove everything that doesn't look like an elephant |

Hey, pretty brave going it without bass player, I'd love to hear how it sounds.
And great question.
I'm not sure if you have two complete amps/cabinets or not from what you said, but you are on the right track because that is what you are going to want. If the peavey amp is separate from your regular guitar amp, you may be able to power the bass cabinet with it using a 1/4" speaker wire cable. Make sure it's not a regular 1/4" instrument cable.
If the peavy is your regular amp, you should buy a used 100w bass amp head, something with tubes is nice for tone. When you have two complete amps, then get a splitter cable, or use something like a stereo chorus pedal to split your guitar signal into two paths. Then you can send one part to the bass rig and the other to the guitar rig. Process both with effects and EQ independently as needed, and you could have a really great sounding setup.
I've run a stereo bass rig at gigs using two bass amps and the chorus pedal method, sounded great. |

cheers. really appreciate that. my main concern was how to split the bass and top-end between the two amps, but your suggestion sounds just the ticket. thanks _________________ How to carve a marble elephant - Take a piece of marble and remove everything that doesn't look like an elephant |
