Acoustic set, please help!  Reply with quote

Hi! Me and my friend Ashley are both performers at Butlins, and we're thinking of doing an acoustic set in bars around Skegness in the evenings to earn a bit of extra pocket money. He plays guitar and we both sing, but we're struggling a little bit to think of a set list! Does anyone have any ideas for acoustic songs that work well for guy/girl duets and are familiar enough to get the crowd going, but that aren't stereotypical songs that every busker sings?! Thanks so much.

Hi, heres a few suggestions, but i suppose it all comes down to personal style and the crowd your playing to. I dont think a set has to be manic jumping round the room doing the conga etc! I think with a duo the crowd would be quite happy sitting listening and tapping their feet, after all with just two of you, people arnt going to expect Chuck Berry, driving drum beats and wave your hands in the air type of stuff!
So:-
I dont wanna talk about it - Various artists have covered this
Destinys Child - Emotion
Johnny Cash - Jackson
Mammas and Pappas - California Dreaming
The Eagles - Take it easy, Hotel California
Creedance Clearwater -Bad Moon Rising, Midnight Special, Have you ever seen the rain
Rod Stewart - Handbags and Gladrags, Maggie May
Steve Harley - Make me smile
John Denver - Country Roads, Leaving on a Jet Plane
Oasis - Songbird
Lena Marlin - Sitting Down Here
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

Obviously alot of these songs are group based, but it wouldnt be too hard to figure out ie one of you as the singer and the guitar player doing backing and harmonies.
Any how good luck would love to come and see you but live down in the sunny south!

Skegness?

That's that place where that pretty good Video Arcade burned down a while back isn't it?
